Former Teacher Biographies

Ian S. Jones ( - ), Rector
 

 
Ian Jones studied engineering at university and worked in heavy industry for a short while.  He took a gap year as a volunteer ski patroller then took a postgraduate course at teacher training college. He went into teaching mathematics, becoming Head Teacher at Menzieshill High School in Dundee.

This was followed by his appointment in 2007 as Rector of Madras College. He left the school in 2013 to take up the post of Principal and CEO in GEMS Education on 1 June 2013.

He was subsequently tasked with opening GEMS Metropole School in the Motor City area of Dubai, which was achieved on 7 September 2014.

He returned to Scotland in 2019.

A keen skier, climber and watersports enthusiast, Ian also taught Outdoor Education and has been involved with Duke of Edinburgh Award schemes. He led a number of Madras School Ski trips to the United States.
